"We're offering retailers a product that has somewhat of an exclusive, since we're only going through select brick-and-mortar accounts," Tom Paterniti, vice president of sales and marketing for AmTRAN Video, said in an interview. The company was not ready to announce its retail partners, but did say that it will likely consist of one major national retailer and several regional ones.
"Essentially, it's competitively priced, we're setting the bar with JVC product line, in the Tier 1.5. We're slightly under a Sony or Samsung as of price, but image quality," as well as audio, are comparable to those of competitors.
The LCD BlackCrystal TVs that arrived in July consisted of four models, ranging in size from 32" to 47" and in price from $439.99 to $849.99, and were sold online as well as in stores. The LED line will consist of the same sizes, ranging from $539.99 to $999.99. All eight models are 1080p.
The TVs are "the perfect product for the floor salesman," Paterniti added. "It's easier for the dealer to bring them to a JVC product, because they don't need to worry about them scanning their phone and seeing it on Amazon."
The BlackCrystal emphasizes picture and audio quality, with the latter assisted by a partnership with SRS Labs. Paterniti likened the TVs to the recently released Bose TV products, only at a more competitive price point.
"What we're giving the consumer is a very good picture quality- in fact, I'll put my sets against the best of the best," he said.
