LG begins selling first OLED TV with 4K resolution

LG announced today that the company will begin selling the world’s first OLED TV with 4K resolution. It will be available in 77- and 65- inch screen sizes (models 77EG9700 and 65EC9700), and will feature a curved panel developed by LG Display with Four-Color Pixel WRGB technology.

Hyun-hwoi Ha, president and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company, said in a press release:

“LG 4K OLED TV is the pinnacle of technological achievement and a new paradigm that will change the dynamics of the next generation TV market. As the next evolutionary step in display technology, OLED will play a major role in reshaping our industry. I feel confident when I say that 4K OLED is a bona fide game changer.”

Both TVs can be wall mounted. LG will start taking pre-orders for the TVs starting in Korea this week.

Pricing information is not yet available in the U.S. market, but the company plans to share this information in the coming weeks.
