LG Electronics Expands Ultra HD TV LineSeptember 27, 2013
LG Electronics USA announced its newest series of Ultra HD TVs which will increase its lineup to five models.
The new LG LA9650 series comes in 65- and 55-inch sizes and features a native Ultra HD screen resolution of 3,820 x 2,160. The new models will be available through U.S. retailers beginning this month at suggested prices of $4,999 and $3,499.
Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, home entertainment, LG Electronics USA, Inc, said in a press release:
"This time last year we became the first manufacturer to launch an Ultra HD TV in the U.S. with our revolutionary 84-inch class model. Today, we're sliding our leadership role in Ultra HD TV by rounding out our lineup that displays 8 million pixels and incorporates technologies that allow consumers to enjoy Ultra HD picture even without 4K content."
LG Electronics also announced a new LG Soundplate, a new speaker system. Model LAP340 will be shown for the first time at CEDIA.
"The tradeoff for the ultra thin TV design has been smaller speakers, which has led to a surge in demand for supplementary home audio devices. We're augmenting our already robust line of sound bars with the LG SoundPlate to give consumers yet another alternative for powerful home entertainment sound in a compact, attractive design."
The LAP340 LG SoundPlate is expected to be available next month.
