Dealerscope Inducts 40 Under 40 Leaders
In this month’s issue of Dealerscope, we feature our annual listing of 40 leaders in the CE industry who are under 40 years old. Every year we take this time to profile the young executives and managers who provide the energy, enthusiasm and ideas that push this industry to new heights.
As in the past, we reached out to retailers, vendors, distributors, buying groups and software developers to submit their best talent. While we’re familiar with many of the choices, we’re delighted with some of the people who haven’t been on our radar. You will be, too.
Over the next few weeks on Dealerscope.com, we’ll begin introducing you to our inductees. We’ll start today with a few outtakes from our interviews with the winners, in which we asked them for their predictions on sales, product and industry trends they see dominating the CE market during the next half of the year. Roxanne Leone, marketing manager at distributor New Age Electronics and its subsidiary, Jack Of All Games, expects the accessories market to remain strong throughout the rest of the year, especially for those distributors and retailers that follow a consultative sales strategy. That model, she said, allows New Age to plan its execution months ahead of the general industry. “We anticipate possible issues and have a game plan on how to attack before they arise,” Leone said.
Damon Owens, sales supervisor, home entertainment and video games at D&H Distributing, has a prediction most retailers will welcome. “One of the more important areas is in the development of smart TVs,” he said, adding that Nintendo’s upcoming console should spark the gaming market. “We’ve really seen [smart TVs] take off as something people are asking for.
