Microsoft on Thursday reported revenue of $15.06 billion for the quarter ending Sept. 30, an increase of 9 percent over the same period last year, and $4.37 billion in net income, a two percent games.

However, the software giant lowered its revenue and profit forecasts, based on "a balance of risks and the
likelihood of a continued economic slowdown."

Strengths for the company this quarter included business software sales, as well as the Xbox 360.
