Motorola to Close Domestic Plant

Motorola’s domestic manufacturing facility in Texas, which the company opened to huge fanfare a year ago in conjunction with the launch of its Moto X smartphone, is closing.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the company plans to shut down the facility by the end of the year. Google, which owns Motorola Mobility but will soon sell it to Lenovo, cited high costs and weak sales, as not enough Moto X phones were sold to achieve economies of scale.
