New iPad Gets Positive ReviewsMarch 15, 2012
In the New York Times, David Pogue described the new device as "much the same, only better," noting that it probably should've been called the "2S." Pogue praised the screen, especially for videos, as well as the LTE speed. He was more critical of the way apps take up storage on the new model.
The Wall Street Journal's Walter Mossberg was even more effusive with his praise, comparing the screen quality to "getting a new eyeglasses prescription" and called it "the most spectacular display I have ever seen in a mobile device." He described both the screen and speed upgrades from the iPad 2 to the new device as "massive," while also praising the battery life.
The Verge's Joshua Topolsky praised the screen, design and performance, while noting that an upgrade may not be necessary for iPad 2 owners who were happy with the screen or speed of the previous device.
