Libratone Gets In the Loop
New wireless speaker carries company’s design standardsOctober 11, 2013 By Joe Paone
Loop doesn’t scream “boxy speaker” but rather design-focused circular object that can be proudly mounted on a wall or placed on a table or shelf.
Loop includes a choice of three Italian wool covers in“pepper black,” “slate grey” and “raspberry red.” There are even more cover colors that you’ll be able to buy for an extra $59.95, with names like pineapple yellow, passion pink, plum purple, petrol blue and icy blue.
Loop can stream music from iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac or PC, as well as Internet radio, Pandora and Spotify, via Wi-Fi and AirPlay or DLNA. If Wi-Fi is down or unavailable, Loop also offers its proprietary PlayDirect technology. Control is provided through an app. The speaker has built-in DSP and Digital Amplification with ribbon-based tweeters. Libratone claims that by “bouncing sound off the walls and dispersing them in every direction in the room,” Loop provides great sound no matter where the listener happens to be in the room.
