Retail Sales Rise, But CE Drops

Retail sales in the U.S. rose 0.2 percent in the month of February, a slightly better number than what was predicted, according to monthly government figures.

The electronics and appliance numbers, however, dropped 0.2 percent.

“Today’s positive retail sales report indicates that the economy is primed for growth,” Matthew Shay ,the CEO of the National Retail Federation, said in a statement. “Retailers and consumers endured the harsh winter and they’re hoping both the natural and man-made obstacles to growth will leave with the snow.”
