When consumers think about buying electronics, Best Buy remains the first name to come to mind. But its share has dropped slightly from the same time last year. That’s according to a survey released this week by Retrevo.
When asked the question “When you think about buying electronics, who comes to mind first?,” 40 percent of respondents chose Best Buy. “Other” took 31 percent, while Amazon and Walmart were third and fourth with 15 and 14 percent, respectively.
In last year’s version of the survey, Best Buy took first place with 44 percent, followed by “other” with 30, Walmart with 15 and Amazon with 11.
When asked their impression of which retailer offers “the lowest prices on electronics this holiday season,” Walmart was first with 42 percent, Amazon second with 33 and Best Buy third with 25. When asked who had the “best selection of electronics,” Best Buy and Amazon dominated with 44 and 41 percent, respectively, with Walmart third with 15.
