Samsung Buying Sony Out of TV Joint Venture

Samsung has bought Sony out of its LCD panel production joint venture, the companies announced over the weekend. The price of the buyout is $939.6 million.

Sony and Samsung, meanwhile, have entered a new strategic agreement for the supply and purchase of LCD panels and the companies will still work together on engineering.

The deal is expected to close by the end of January.
