Geek Squad Accused of Peeking at Files
Allegations of wrongdoing against employees of Best Buy’s Geek Squad tech support division have proliferated in recent months, with reports of Geek Squaders copying personal photos, music, and other files, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Monday, citing earlier reporting by the Web site Consumerist.com
The Star Tribune quoted several Geek Squad employees who had witnessed co-workers grabbing personal photos from the hard drives of consumers brought in for repair, with one former employee stating that attractive young women are especially vulnerable to having their photos looked at.
In April, Best Buy and Geek Squad were sued by two California women after an employee allegedly set up a video camera in their shower. The employee was also brought up on criminal charges.
