Slimmer PSP Coming in Fall

Sony has announced that it will shrink its Playstation Portable (PSP) device, and will release the smaller and thinner version this fall, the Web site Ars Technica reported late last week.

The updated version of the PSP, at 189 grams and 18.6mm thick, will be 33 percent lighter and 19 percent slimmer than the original device, and come in black, white and silver colors. The original, black-colored device will remain in circulation as well. Other new features include a video-out port, the ability to re-charge from a PC and double the memory of the original PSP.

The new product will be priced at around $200 and released in September.

The announcement came at the E3 Media & Business Summit in Santa Monica, Calif.
