Smart Phone Sales Slow, But RIM Improves Share
September 2008
While Nokia maintains its lead in global market share of smart phones, BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has doubled its own share from a year before.
That’s according to numbers released this week by research firm Gartner, as cited by Reuters, which also found that growth of smart phone sales had been cut in half since the first quarter of the year. Growth was measured at 15.7 percent worldwide.
The firm found that Nokia leads with 47.5 percent of the global market, while RIM held 17.4 percent and phones running Windows Mobile at 12 percent.
