The Smart TV Alliance announced at the IFA show this week it has expanded to add new members.
Original members
LG Electronics, Toshiba and TP Vision have been joined by such members as Qualcomm, MStar and YuMe.
The Alliance will also release specifications for its new software development kit.
“The expanding membership of the Smart TV Alliance is clear indication that these companies recognize the value of this Alliance,” Richard Choi of LG Electronics, President of Smart TV Alliance, said as part of the announcement. “This is an industry coming together to solve a common problem, which has clear benefits for the consumer. The diversity of the Smart TV Alliance is reassuring because it shows that this is an industry movement, not just an initiative from TV manufacturers.”
