Sony on Friday announced the establishment of what it calls "Green Glove" service, which offers customers the chance to have their old and otherwise unused televisions to be hauled away. The service is offered when customers purchase a new Sony Bravia TV at Sony Style stores or at SonyStyle.com

The service is being offered in conjunction with Sony Take Back Recycling and Waste Management Recycle America; its timing is being pegged to America Recycles Day on Nov. 15.

"Sony is in the forefront of industry recycling efforts by providing consumers another way to conveniently and responsibly dispose of their old electronics," said Mike Fasulo, Sony Electronics' chief marketing officer and head of the company's corporate social responsibility efforts, said as part of the announcement. "By giving consumers the opportunity to do the right thing, without even leaving their homes, we are able to make a lasting impact on the state of our environment by responsibly recycling these materials."
