Sony Melds Art with OLED
Sony Electronics capped the start of the sale of its first consumer Bravia OLED TVs with an event in New York City last week that showcased these new TVs as elements of an “immersive art installation.”
The Westwood Gallery in Manhattan’s Bowery Arts District was home for several days to Tokyo-based artist KAZ Shirane’s EVOLVE interactive audio-visual art installation, which gave visitors who entered the enclosure where it was housed the feeling of being inside the facets of a diamond.
The installation centered around and A1E Bravia series, and included seven of the TVs, along with sound and visual effects for a synergistic blend of technology and art.
“KAZ Shirane’s work in architecture, interior design and spatial art is a natural complement to Sony Bravia OLED’s innovative collaboration of technology and design,” said Toshi Okuda, deputy president of Sony Electronics.
