Sony, Google Reach Book Deal

Sony Thursday announced a strike back at rival Amazon and its Kindle, making a deal with Google to make 500,000 books from the company's online archive available on the Sony Reader device.

According to the New York Times
, financial terms were not disclosed. Google in the past five years has scanned millions of off-copyright books and other material in the public domain.
