Sprint, T-Mobile Edge Closer to Merger

The long-rumored merger of Sprint and T-Mobile is edging closer to fruition, with the companies agreeing to the “outlines” of merger in which Sprint will acquire T-Mobile for $32 billion.

The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Sprint would pay $40 a share for T-Mobile, in a deal that could happen as early as this summer. The Journal said that the companies believe the regulatory environment suggests the deal would gain government approval.

A deal by AT&T to acquire T-Mobile fell apart two years ago.
