Tamron’s VanSteenberg to Retire

John VanSteenberg, a 30-year employee of Tamron USA, will retire from the company at the end of this month.

VanSteenberg was previously regional and later national sales manager, before becoming senior education manager in 2008.

“I’m proud to say that we were serious about educating retail salespeople about the true value and parity of products, not just feature set, but what’s under the skin,” VanSteenberg said in a statement.

“And also how to listen to the customer-what they intend to do with their equipment,” he continued. “We forged a true partnership with dealers everywhere in a very intense, committed way. And what we did-connecting with dealers-expanded to consumers.”

According to Tamron’s statement, VanSteenberg plans to spend his retirement working on photography, as well as a foundation he started to help underprivileged youth.
