The 2012 International CES will sport 1.7 million square feet of exhibit space, for a larger overall space than the 2011 event, CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro said Tuesday at the annual CES press conference in New York.

It was one of several announcements made at the press conference by Shapiro and CEA conferences chief Karen Chupka. Other include:

- John Donahoe, the president and CEO of Ebay, will deliver a keynote address at the annual Leaders in Technology dinner Jan. 11 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

- FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski will once again sit for a one-on-one interview with Gary Shapiro at the show.

- CES will once again host a "Global Perspective on Retail" panel that will include Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn.

- CEA and the city of Las Vegas have worked to improve pedestrian walkways outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center during the event.

International CES is scheduled for Jan. 10-13, with a press preview day on Jan. 9. Stay tuned on our sites for full coverage up to and during the event.
