The Consumer Electronics Association this week announced its Executive Board and Board of Industry Leaders for 2009. MyerEmco President/CEO Gary Yacoubian has been elected chairman of the Executive Board- the first retailer to ever hold that title- while DBL President Henry Chiarelli will be vice chairman.

New members of the board include Jim Bazet of Cobra Electronics, Randy Fry of Fry's Electronics, John Godfrey of Samsung and Paul Sabbah of Stamford International. Returning board members include Steve Caldero of Ken Crane’s Home Entertainment., Loyd Ivey of Mitek Corp., Jay McLellan of Home Automation, Inc., Michael Mohr of Celluphone, Inc. and Glenn Russell of Kleen Concepts.

In addition, Pat Lavelle of Audiovox will remain as Immediate Past Chairman, Glenda MacMullin will be treasurer and Karen Chupka will be secretary. CEA President/CEO Gary Shapiro will sit on the board as well.

“The 2009 Board of Industry Leaders serves as the conduit of our 2,200 member companies,” Shapiro said as part of the announcement. “Their volunteer leadership helps protect our industry’s interests through one resounding voice. With a retailer and a distributor taking leadership roles on our Executive Board alongside our manufacturer members, CEA truly represents our entire industry.”
