According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, Gov. Charlie Crist signed the bill this week, which will provide an average of 20 percent in rebates for customers who buy refrigerators, washers, dryers and other products deemed energy-efficient. The new law is seen as benefiting not only consumers but also retailers, by encouraging sale of the products.
The program is being paid for by a combination of federal stimulus money and state coffers. The new program will be administered by the Florida Energy and Climate Commission.
