Toshiba Rolls Out 4K UltraHD TVs, Blu-ray Player at CE Week

Toshiba will be making an aggressive push into the 4K TV market this summer with the release of three new UltraHD TVs, along with a 4K Blu-ray player. The new models were unveiled by Scott Ramirez, Toshiba’s vice president, Product Marketing and Development, Digital Products Division at a press conference held Wednesday at CE Week in New York.

The three models in Toshiba’s L9300 series are a 58-inch set priced at $4,999.99, a 65-inch model for $6,999.99, and an 84-inch unit for $16,999.99.

Toshiba also is coming out with a 4K upscaling Blu-ray player, the BDX6400, which will retail for $299.99. This unit, Ramirez announced, is the first 4K Blu-ray player to achieve Technicolor 4K certification.

The BDX6400 will be bundled at retail with the new TVs and Toshiba’s SBX5065 soundbar through the next few months, Ramirez said. And while he didn’t go into specifics, he predicted price points for the 4K TVs would change in 2014.
