The U.S. Secretary of Transportation has declined to declare his support for the recommendation of a blanket ban on in-car cell phone use issued last week by the department's National Transportation Safety Board.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Secretary Ray LaHood, speaking at a news conference this week, did not back the recommendation, and specifically disagreed with the NTSB's inclusion of hands-free calling on the list of suggested banned activities.
