UNBOXED: Reviewing the Touchjet Pond Projector
Welcome to our first-ever edition of UNBOXED, a new product review series that we’re starting on Dealerscope and Technology Integrator. The videos you see above will live on their own over on the TechConnect Review channel, but we’ll also include written reviews for each product. These written articles will cover just about everything you can see in the video, with a little more focus on the tech specs of the product. We’ll also talk a little more in depth about our experience with the product. And you’ll still get our overall score for the product, based on a scale of 0 to 5 boxes, 0 being an absolute flop (we’re talking Google Glass-type failure) and 5 being a must-own product.
We kick things off with the Touchjet Pond, a pocket-sized projector that can turn any wall or surface into a touchscreen.
The $599 projector from Touchjet is a product that attempts to execute a really cool concept: turning any wall into an enormous touchscreen. It’s built around the Android platform and uses infrared technology in its included styluses and remote control to enable the “touch” interface. The projector can clearly display a screen up to 80 inches and its WiFi and Bluetooth compatibility mean you can stream from all of your favorite entertainment sources directly to the projector. Also, with Android baked into the device, you have access to the entire Google Play Store, meaning you can project everything from Angry Birds to the latest stock market projections on your wall. HDMI and USB ports also allow you to connect the device to practically any external video source.
