UNBOXED: Reviewing the truMedic Full Body Massager with Heat
It’s not a consumer electronic in the traditional sense, but we were going to cut every corner possible and flip the definition every which way to ensure we could get our hands on the truMedic IS-3000 Pro. Worst case scenario: we could say we reviewed a personal massager. Best case: the stress built up in every muscle of my back would be relieved and my overall quality of life would shoot through the roof.
Turns out, the latter is where we ended up.
The IS-3000 Pro might be a slightly awkward looking product—I was told on multiple occasions while sitting at my desk with the thing strapped on that I looked like a villain out of X-Men—but the second you hit ‘on’ that’s among the least of your concerns. My only complaint about the IS-3000 Pro is that it worked so well that I found it impossible to focus on work, thus my productivity, while getting massaged, plummeted.
For serious, though… truMedic designed the product in a really intelligent way. Not only can you use the massager all over your person, the pressure and intensity of the massage is left entirely up to the user. If you want a deeper-tissue neck or back massage, use the straps and your arms to dig in a little more. There is a setting that allows the user to adjust the speed of the rotating heads as well, which adds an extra layer of customizability, and the rotation button is used to turn the heads in the opposite direction.
And don’t even get me started on the heat function. It takes a little bit to fully warm up, but once it gets going it’s an experience unlike anything I’ve ever had. It’s relaxing, mesmerizing, and downright therapeutic.
truMedic included an auto-shut-off feature that activates after 20 minutes of use to help control the battery life. One actual flaw that I did find with the massager is that the battery life wasn’t great. Even with the product not running, it seemed to need to be charged up after two or three uses. Luckily, it does work while plugged in, so there’s no need to wait for the IS-3000 Pro to charge up. But sitting in a chair strapped to a massager that’s strapped to an AC outlet is a little cumbersome and somewhat annoying.
Even still, the moment the full body massager gets turned on, you forget about where you are and the gripes that you might’ve had about the battery.
What makes the truMedic IS-3000 Pro Full Body Massager with Heat a true 5 out of 5 product is this: it’s a product that set out to accomplish one goal—to provide an exceptional full-body massaging experience—and it accomplishes that goal and then some. We’ve seen so many products that lose focus amid massive feature sets. It’s refreshing to test out a product that doesn’t try to be more than what it really, truly is. And that’s a testament to the values and philosophy of the manufacturer behind the product.
