VIZIO Unveils “Reference Series” UHD TVs and Smart Audio Line-Up
VIZIO at CES took the wraps of its 65- and 120-inch Reference Series UHD Full-Array LED Smart TV collection.
Reference Series, according to the company, was engineered from the ground up with the goal of offering consumers, videophiles and custom integrators an elite collection of TVs. Features include High Dynamic Range, 800 nit bright backlight and 384 Active LED Zones to optimize contrast, Ultra-Color Spectrum with support for true 10-bit color, and a Spatial Scaling Engine for transformation of 1080p Full HD content.
“VIZIO started with a clean sheet of paper and asked, ‘what would be the ultimate TV if there were no limitations or need to compromise?’ The result is the all-new Reference Series, which represents two years of research and development across every aspect of the platform,” said Matt McRae, Vizio’s Chief Technology Officer. “The video system is a fusion of state-of-the-art picture processing and numerous new engines, creating an outstanding picture and offering granular user control. The integrated audio system features a 5.1 sound bar that rivals the best home theater solutions. The combined result is the best-in-class entertainment experience that sets the new benchmark by which all other TVs will be measured. In the case of the truly cinematic 120″ Reference TV, that measurement is huge.”
Vizio also launched two portable “smart” audio speakers with a a 7-inch and 4.7-inch touchscreen display. The 802.11n devices run Android KitKat for audio and video streaming. The apps can be downloaded and accessed whenever the portable smart audio device is connected to Wi-Fi. Pricing for the new products was not announced.
