Volutone, Sony Reach Distribution Deal; Training Scheduled
Volutone announced Friday that it has reached a deal to once again distribute Sony products, or select AV specialty retailers and custom installers, in Southern California and Nevada.
“For the past 20+ years Sony has focused more on the retail/direct dealer channel,” Trevor Hansen, Volutone’s vice president, said in a statement. The renewed agreement will begin with Sony training classes throughout the month of August at Volutone’s seven locations. The schedule is available here.
“With the specialty AV business changing, Sony is bringing more resources, support and training to the custom dealers and they need local, on the ground support. Our longstanding history of Sony success, coupled with our knowledgeable staff and customer service make this an opportune relationship.”
“Volutone is a perfect addition to Sony’s AV Specialty/CI channel partner list,” Sony VP of AV Specialty and Custom Installation Frank Sterns said as part of the announcement.
“They have a well-deserved reputation for customer service and dealer support. Their value-added approach fits well with Sony’s new AV Specialty/CI strategy which is committed to bringing the premium home experience of 4K UHD TV and Hi Resolution audio to consumers in Southern California and Nevada through select custom integration professionals.”
Sony and Volutone have a long history; Hansen’s grandfather, the son of the company’s founder, brought Sony’s two transistor radios to the U.S. in 1957.
