Walmart is reportedly clearing out much of its inventory of music CDs at many of its locations in favor of a greater assortment of Blu-ray Discs, as well as other electronics products. That's according to a report in Home Media Magazine, which cited an analyst familiar with the situation.

A Walmart spokesman had confirmed the shrinking of some CD displays in a call with analysts last week.

Pell Capital analyst Richard Greenfield, according to the magazine, wrote that the discount retail giant was "increasing its exposure to consumer electronics, video games and Blu-ray," at the expense of music as well as standard DVDs.
