Walmart is set to revamp the consumer electronics departments at all of its stores this week, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The new departments will be roomier than before, featuring a wider selection as well as separate sections for products from such brands as Apple and Nintendo, the Journal said.
The Journal also reported that contrary to earlier reports of a Best Buy exclusive, it will in fact carry Palm's eagerly awaited Pre smart phone.
A Walmart executive told the paper that the move is meant to maximize the chain's share of Circuit City's business. The new departments will also carry higher-end products, and also emphasize Blu-ray Disc players.
