Walmart on Thursday vowed to create 22,000 new jobs this year, at new and existing stores in the U.S. The jobs are available at various levels of store hierarchies from management to sales associates. The company announced last fall that it will add around 150 new stores in the 2010 fiscal year.

"During this difficult economic time, we're proud to be able to create quality jobs for thousands of Americans this year," Walmart vice president Eduardo Castro-Wright said as part of the announcement.

The company plans to create more than 1,000 individual jobs in several states, including California, Arizona, Florida and Michigan.
