Walmart Tueday confirmed earlier published reports that it is launching a revamping of its electronics departments, a move that is meant to further keep customers "engaged and inspired."

The company announced that store employees are currently preparing the departments for both a new presentation and a large influx of new products. The new departments will feature new signage, a greater emphasis on HDTV and Blu-ray products, and new sections for laptop computers and mobile phones, as well as products from Apple and Nintendo.

Specific products set to arrive soon include new Samsung, Sony, and Vizio HDTVs, Acer netbooks, the Sony Reader e-book reader, the BlackBerry Bold and Storm smart phones, and eventually the Palm Pre.

Meanwhile, one analyst wrote this week that the Apple stores may well pave the way for the arrival of Mac computers in Walmart stores.
