Walmart this week announced that L. Mecole “Cole” Brown, a member of the company's legal team for the past seven years, has been named to the position of Chief Diversity Officer.

Brown replaces Charlyn Jarrells Porter, who retired in March.

“As someone who has worked closely with Cole since she joined Walmart, I am proud that her hard work, leadership skills and commitment to her fellow associates has put her in the position to lead one of our company’s most important efforts-- becoming a best-in-class model for diversity and inclusion,” the company's executive vice president and chief administrative officer, Tom Mars, said as part of the announcement.
