Walmart's efforts to place a store on the South Side of Chicago received a setback this week, as two members of the city council took steps to delay a decision about the store until after a decision is made about the city's bid for the 2016 Olympics.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported
that a pair of aldermen with ties to organized labor passed a maneuver kicking the Walmart question to another committee, meaning the matter likely will not be considered until after the council goes into recess. The vote by the International Olympic Committee on whether the 2016 Games are awarded to Chicago or one of three other cities will be held Oct. 2.
