Whirlpool said this week that has launched a new online tool to help consumers better understand the government's new "Cash For Appliances" rebate program. The tool will be available on the sites of three of its brands- Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid.

The tool lets consumers know what types of rebates are available in their jurisdiction.

“The ‘Cash for Appliances’ program is a great incentive for consumers to purchase new, energy-efficient appliances and retire their energy draining older appliances,” Warwick Stirling, Whirlpool global director of energy and sustainability, said as part of the announcement. “The rebate on the purchase of a new ENERGY STAR qualified appliance is just the beginning of the savings. Ultimately, it’s an investment that will provide monthly savings on utility bills and benefit the environment through reduced energy and water use.”

The tool can be accessed at www.whirlpool.com, www.maytag.com and www.kitchenaid.com.
