The manufacturer of kid-friendly products like the KidFit activity and sleep tracker unveiled a new tracking device for children and their guardians on Monday. X-Doria said its new KidGPS tracking system is a palm-sized tracking device that can be tucked into a child’s pocket or placed in their backpack to ensure they are “always in a safe location.”
KidGPS lets parents easily track their children on their smartphones through a companion iOS and Android app that pinpoints the exact location of the child, X-Doria explained. Further, the app lets the parent or guardian set up “Zones” or “GeoFences” for the child and notifies the parent through a text message when the child arrives at or leaves a certain location. Some use cases that X-Doria suggested included when a child is dropped off or picked up from school.
The device also features a “Panic Alert” button that sends the current location of the child to multiple devices, ensuring they “are always safe and can discreetly send a signal to parents if they are in trouble.” That alert system can be set up on multiple devices so parents, grandparents, babysitters, and more can be alerted of the child’s location.
