Santa’s not so into this one: Ofcom, an independent British communications regulator, published a report stating that 20 percent of poor Wi-Fi performance is related to lights and electronic devices in your home. This means while your busy baking cookies and streaming Home Alone, your favorite holiday movie could be buffering more than usual.
However, Christmas lights are only adding to the problem. Interference from other electronic devices like baby monitors, microwaves and lamps can be interfering with your Wi-Fi connection. According to Ofcom, “Wireless broadband may not be working as well as it could in nearly six million UK homes and offices. This is often caused by the Wi-Fi set-up in the house slowing down the broadband.”
