Mitsubishi held its annual dealer line show last week in Huntington Beach, Calif., and the major news was that Mitsubishi has named its recently announced Laser TV, which will be branded as LaserVue and it will be available to consumers in the 3rd Quarter of 2008. More information on the LaserVue will come closer to its release date.

Kicking off was Max Wasinger, senior vice president of Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, who announced that “we are the first in the world to debut LaserVue technology. We are just finishing up two days of dealer meetings and LaserVue TV will absolutely be the future of TV; it’s a true dimensional experience.” He then went on to add that, “60-inch and above DLPs will be a huge part of our dealers’ business going forward throughout 2008.”

We sat down with David Naranjo, director of product development at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, for additional thoughts on the new LaserVue technology, “LaserVue will offer the viewer twice the amount of color than other displays on the market today. The reds are so vivid, they have to be seen to be believed. When we did our avarage consumer comparison testing one of the comment’s I heard was, “Oh my god, the color is so pure.” Also with our commitment to energy savings, LaserVue displays will use half the power of other comparable displays with the same screen sizes on the market today; we really are comparing apples to apples.”

Mitsubishi did offer attending journalists an out-of-the-box shoot out of the new 65-inch LaserVue technology versus a plasma and LCD from competing manufacturers; LaserVue has an impressive image. Any further information on LaserVue is embargoed until June 2008.

Also presenting was Frank DeMartin, vice president, marketing, at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, “Because Mitsubishi has focused on large-format televisions for more than two decades, we have a unique understanding of our customers wants, needs and expectations from their HDTVs. Our new 2008 HDTVs are a direct result of listening to our customers, and we have delivered multi-dimensional products that will take their viewing experience to a new level, in addition to LaserVue and DLP, we have seven new LCD displays”
