ELAN Home Systems announced last week that it has opened a new training center in Marblehead, Mass. The facility is located within the headquarters of ELAN’s sister company, HomeLogic. The facility will host monthly classes, which will begin with a focus on ELAN and Homelogic system design, hands-on installation and programming. Sunfire classes are set to begin next month. “With hands-on centers in Marblehead, Mass. and six other locations around the country, plus a keen eye on the economic times for our dealers, we now offer conveniently located training opportunities throughout the U.S., saving them travel time and money,” the company’s executive

An installer training and product demonstration event, TechWeek is held every two years near ELAN’s Lexington, Ky. home base. The Linear Home Technology Group, which includes SpeakerCraft, Niles Audio, ELAN, ATON and Xantech, unveiled DIGI-5, a low-cost audio distribution technology that will serve as a common platform for easier integration of products released by Linear’s brands. The company also plans to make the platform available to other companies that meet certain licensing requirements. Announced Wednesday at Fall CEDIA Expo 2007 in Denver, the protocol is designed to transmit digital music over CAT-5 wiring.
