AAMP of America announced that it opened a new 70,000 square foot facility in Ontario, Calif., on May 1. The new facility will consolidate the operations of previous facilities in Santa Ana and Camarillo. 

Standex Foodservice Group acquired the Tri-Star Manufacturing Company based in Santa Ana, CA. Tri-Star brings an array of primary cooking equipment capabilities to the Standex Cooking Solutions Group, including a line of commercial ranges. Tri-star also produces open pot fryers and other key traditional cooking accessories that Standex believes will fill out its cooking product line. Other commercial foodservice equipment companies in the Standex Cooking Solutions Group include APW Wyott, Bakers Pride, BevLes, and BKI.

Netflix’s rollout of machines that automatically process hundreds of thousands of DVD mailers has resulted in layoffs of more than 250 part-time employees at distribution centers in Santa Ana and Fremont, Calif. Spokesperson Steve Swasey confirmed the Los Gatos, Calif.-based online DVD rental pioneer is letting go about 125 workers in Santa Ana — its largest distribution center handling more than 200,000 disc mailers a day. The Fremont (near San Jose) location will lose about 160 positions.
