Blast your car stereo so loud that it can be plainly heard 50 feet away, and soon you could be looking at a $250 ticket in the city of Tampa.

The City Council on Thursday gave its initial approval to a new noise ordinance aimed at giving police and city code enforcement officers the authority to crack down on noisy car stereos that East Tampa residents have long complained ruin their sleep, disrupt their church services and rattle the doors and windows of their homes.

The Democratic and Republican parties can agree on one thing, at least: both parties' national conventions named LG its official HDTV provider.

AVAD announced last week that its Vend-O-Palooza Tour will continue this week in Tampa, with more dates announced for April, May and June.
