Panasonic, in simultaneous events in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles Monday, launched a multi-city tour, called “Touch the Future,” designed to showcase its new 3D products along with its lines of digital still cameras, camcorders, audio gear and 2D plasma and LCD TV lines.
The tours will rotate through Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, and conclude in Miami and Houston around the end of the third week of April.
According to Panasonic senior vice president Bob Perry, the company chose highly trafficked areas – such as Penn Pavilion, across from New York’s Pennsylvania Station and Madison Square Garden – in each city that would ensure consumer interactivity with the various technologies on display. Perry added that the company is using radio spots and social media to get the word out, and that Panasonic was also leveraging its retail relationships in the effort.
Consumers who view the displays and experience the various 3D demonstrations – in the form of Blu-ray content, gaming content and DirecTV feeds – are being given the opportunity to enter a drawing to win a 54-inch VIERA 3D HD plasma TV, Blu-ray player and 3D eyewear bundle if they register for the contest on site.
