Verizon to buy struggling Yahoo for $4.83 billion
- Verizon gets access to 25 media and advertising brands, email service with over 25 million users
- Both are Apple partners, provided data to many of the native iPhone apps
- Yahoo couldn't stay relevant, recently laid off 1,000 workers, closed five international offices
Verizon on Monday announced a deal to buy the search engine pioneer Yahoo for $4.8 billion, granting Verizon over one billion total monthly search users in conjunction with another large internet advertising network that it will be adding to the AOL network.
