10th Anniversary Breakability Test Pits iPhone 7 Against the Original iPhone
In case you haven’t heard already or figured it out for yourself, 2017 is the tenth anniversary of the iPhone. More specifically, June 2017 marks 10 years since the first iPhone landed in the hands of consumers. To celebrate the occasion, SquareTrade—a provider of smartphone protection plans, and purveyor of some of the best smartphone durability tests out there—decided to pit the original iPhone against Apple’s most recent iteration of the device in a standard breakability test.
At a higher level, the “iPhone Decade of Damage” study, released on Tuesday, revealed that over 10 years and through 15 different models, iPhone users have spent around $14 billion repairing and replacing their devices. Additionally, the study found that iPhone users are six-times more likely to damage their device than have it lost or stolen.
On to the destruction though.
