Distraction Education May Bring More Store Traffic
According to the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, studies have shown that texting distraction reduces the level of lack-of-reaction time as blowing a 0.08 on a breathalyzer. That is the minimal level needed for an arrest in most U.S. states for alcohol intoxication.
The idea some industry leaders have to promote the various new in-car iPod capabilities does nothing to promote aftermarket 12-volt, but much to promote Apple products. There is no real differentiation available here between what you can achieve in a new vehicle today or obtain through an aftermarket solution.
With an opportunity to bring all the issues surrounding driver distraction, an oft-discussed community topic, to the forefront and the opportunity to present aftermarket technology solutions to the public, I have to wonder about the real value in promoting the sale of more iPods as the only way to raise awareness of this problem.
