Chain store Retailer of the Year went to Stereo King based out of Portland, Ore. Runner-up in category went to last year’s winner, the fast-growing franchise Tint World based out of Boca Raton, Fla. Both of these multi-store retailers are headed up by progressive thinkers John Coleman (Stereo King) and Charles Bonfiglio (Tint World) that not only excel in 12-volt retailing, but are increasingly important as employers for talented industry professionals seeking a career with growth and opportunity. Tint World has also been recognized in Inc. Magazine’s 500/5000 fastest-growing private companies for the fourth year in a row.
In addition to the retail and installer categories, suppliers and sales reps were also recognized during the ME Industry Awards. Dow Electronics was presented the Distributor of the Year award for the second year in a row. American Radio won Expeditor of the Year, Marketing Pros again won Rep Firm of the Year with Principal Pete Daley accepting. For the Rep of the Year award Andy Adkins took home the honors.
For vendors, the awards were expanded somewhat to recognize individual segments and an overall best. The Vendor of the Year went to Orca Design and Manufacturing out of Camarillo, Calif. The company also took the Top Vendor for Autosound & Video. Among other brands, Orca distributes Focal, Mosconi and Illusion Audio in the U.S.
