1999 Geography of Retailing - St. Louis & Orlando/Daytona Beach
Entrances & Exits: The St. Louis retail market reports steady business, with the biggest news being the 1997 departure of Venture Stores. CompUSA kept both of the Computer City stores it acquired open in this region and added one store of its own within the market.
Economy: The city rejoiced when Mastercard chose its locale over that of Dallas. Sometime in the middle of this year, it will expand its 1,000-plus employee Global Technology and Operations Center by adding at least 500 new jobs to the region's economy.
