Fox Introduces Two Tracks For DVD
In a move that could change the way movie studios release DVDs, 20th Century Fox has announced that it for upcoming releases, it will release its DVDs in two separate classes: A premium version for retail that features digital copy protection and additional features, and a scaled-down version for the rental market that lacks those features.
According to Variety, the first major releases under the new scheme will be "Slumdog Millionaire," which won the Academy Award for Best Picture last month, and the hit book adaptation "Marley and Me." Both are set for release March 31.
The changes apply on Blu-ray editions of the discs as well.
