3DS Sales Expected to Overtake First Year of DS
Nintendo said Friday that sales of the Nintendo 3DS are about to cross those of the first year of the Nintendo DS in 2004 and 2005.
The 3DS has sold 1.65 million 3DS units in its eight months on the market in the U.S., while the DS sold 2.37 million in its first year. Nintendo believes the 3DS will overtake that number with the holiday season on the horizon.
“With a massive lineup of software on the way and the first-year sales record of Nintendo DS in its sights, Nintendo 3DS enters its first holiday season with a full head of steam,” Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing, said as part of the announcement.
